Our Story: Rooted in Tradition, Made by Hand

Karen's Botanicals began with a lineage of herbalists in Slovakia. Artist Karen Palcho started the company to honor her family's 19th-century botanical recipes, along with those she created herself.  She built it on a simple belief: the best skincare comes directly from the earth.

Pam Mitchell purchased the company in 2011, eager to return to the skincare industry where she began her career in private-label manufacturing. There she saw firsthand what happens when good intentions meet marketplace pressure: formulas get diluted, corners get cut, and the plants take a back seat.  She wanted to do it differently.

She and her husband, Edward, opened a factory near Atlanta.  Eventually, to "save ourselves from the world's worst commute," as they put it, they moved the business to its current studio in the rural Georgia Piedmont, just outside Rome.

Unlike mass-produced skincare lines, we make every product by hand in our
studio.  We pair time-honored herbal wisdom with modern techniques to create all-natural body care.  We make each batch in small quantities with close attention to detail, using wild-crafted botanicals, 93 to 100 percent organic materials, and a firm commitment to cruelty-free practices.

What We Believe

Our motivation has never changed: a genuine concern for the people we serve.  For more than 22 years, we've held ourselves to the standard that what goes on your skin should be as pure as what comes from the earth.
